Nearly a decade ago, AVID introduced the Secondary Coaching and Certification Instrument (CCI). Since then, we've listened to your feedback on the transformative impact a quality AVID implementation can have on a campus and the need for a revised certification instrument that is both relevant and easier to use. This is why we are excited to announce a brand new secondary certification instrument—the AVID Secondary Implementation Instrument (SII). The SII reflects our learnings from you and the evolving landscape of AVID implementation.
What we know from over 45 years of implementation is that the AVID Elective produces proven results when it is implemented as designed. Strong implementation takes a multi-year commitment to ensure the core components of AVID are in place and fully leveraged over time. AVID works when school leaders, teachers, and students alike are engaged and invested in the process of continuous growth across a logical continuum. Since implementing the AVID Elective with quality requires sustained effort over time and reflection on what is working well and what can be improved, the SII serves as a self-assessment instrument that enables schools to get the most out of AVID and show the greatest return on effort. In essence, this instrument should be primarily viewed as a planning tool.
