You’ve experienced the benefits of being an AVID student firsthand, learning from the program’s strategies and methodologies. Now, as you embark on your student teaching journey, we invite you to join the inaugural AVID New Teacher Fellowship, launching in California and Texas in spring 2025.
The AVID New Teacher Fellowship is specifically designed to support former AVID students like you during your student teaching experience through your first year of teaching. The fellowship offers targeted support, mentorship, and the opportunity to be part of an AVID Professional Learning Community (PLC). This 18-month experience, valued at $7500, will be fully funded by a scholarship for all participants in this inaugural group. We’re excited to embark on this journey with you!

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the AVID New Teacher Fellowship, you should be:
- A former AVID student.
- In your final year of teacher preparation, student teaching in January 2025 and anticipating your first year of teaching in fall 2025.
- Willing to commit to virtually participate—synchronously and/or asynchronously—in AVID professional learning and coaching and apply your learning while reflecting on your practice (approximate 3-hour time commitment per month).
- Wiling to attend an AVID Summer Institute in California or Texas if your schedule allows. (Expenses will be covered by AVID.)
