Build a Model Classroom
Participants will engage in deep learning around the AVID Foundations of Instruction and create plans to apply and demonstrate their knowledge by designing holistic classroom experiences that focus on essential skills for college and career readiness.
The cohort will meet virtually four times throughout the 2025–2026 school year, fostering a collaborative environment for reflection on application, refinement of plans, and mutual support. The experience will culminate with a capstone demonstration and celebration.
Between the synchronous, virtual sessions, you will:
- Reflect regularly on your practice.
- Review and comment on current resources that will contribute to your ongoing learning of the Foundations of Instruction.
- Curate artifacts that demonstrate application of the Foundations of Instruction in your classroom (e.g., student work, lesson examples).
What Are the AVID Foundations of Instruction?
The AVID Foundations of Instruction are a guide to what educators do in the Instruction Domain to accelerate learning and deliver on the promise of the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework. When educators implement the Foundations of Instruction, they create a high-impact learning environment where all learners develop skillsets and strategies to successfully access and engage in challenging content while building the confidence to apply mindsets and behaviors that support their success in the classroom and beyond.
AVID Certified Educators will become highly skilled in developing:
- Positive Relationships
- Appropriate Environments
